Ambar Navarro is an LA based music video director and filmmaker. She started off making live-action puppetry films and 8mm films at age 17 while taking classes at the Austin Film School. She then applied to the California Institute of the Arts school of Film/Video and received a B.F.A. in Experimental Animation (class of 2015.) Growing up collecting miniatures, her main focus at school was directing and fabricating stop-motion animations. Ambar interned at Stoopid Buddy, Screen Novelties, and Bix Pix on the stop-motion Adventure Time episode . Since graduating she has had work exhibited in 35+ galleries and worked as an editor, fabricator, teacher, and director.
Ambar has directed 12 music videos in the past two years and earned over a million views on her Cuco "Sunnyside" music video. Her work has been featured on Dazed, Papermag, NPR, Fader, Nylon, Playboy, and more. Recently Ambar was fabricating at Giphy on miniature sets and has directed work in a range of animation, music video, beauty commercial, and documentary.
